Wedges have never really had a place in my closet. I’ve always found them to be the awkward love child of flats and heels. They are no doubt functional, but they tend to lack extremity, distinctiveness, and therefore, that much sought after “wow-factor.”
Certainly your fellow Fashionistas will complement your adorable metallic ballet flats and beg to borrow those six-inch platform pumps, but what about the wedge? Doesn’t it deserve some gratuitous praise too?
My reaction to this Fashionista’s zipper wedge booties was priceless. They received the gasp of the cutest flats and the tallest Vivienne Westwood heels combined. These booties are the opposite of the boring and expected, yawn-worthy wedge. Opt for lux fabrics, like this rich black suede this autumn and winter.
Hint: These booties are extreme, so keep the rest of your ensemble simple. Stick with a fairly basic color palette and steer clear of crazy patterns.
