Spring 2010 Trends: Eco-Friendly Edition

I instinctively associate eco-friendly fashions with hemp sweaters, tee shirts with universal messages of peace sprawled across the chest, and boring canvas trousers.

Let’s face it, they’re not know to be the most fashionable garments to ever walk the runway. But for a trendy alternative, check out this head-to-toe guide on how to wear Spring 2010 trends with an eco-friendly twist.

One of the major hair trends for Spring 2010 was the soft and feminine side braid. No, I’m not going to teach you the grade school technique of a three-piece braid. But I will give you the tip to use a botanical nourishing balm to keep your strands from surrendering to the evil fiend known as frizz that comes around in the springtime.

Good news, you can say  bye to that sallow winter skin! It’s finally that time of year when you can have a tan without looking like you spent the morning getting a spray tan with the “Jersey Shore’” cast! Because it will be natural, of course. Try a natural multi-use palette in shimmering hues to accentuate your radiant color.

The Spring runways blazed up with some serious African fire in the form of massive statement necklaces, shoulder-grazing earrings, and gangsta gold chains. To capture your own ethnic look to stomp down Commonwealth Avenue with , try swapping out danity silver necklaces for all-natural wood gemstones for a bolder look.

I know what you’re thinking: “Yawn.” Okay, so pastels aren’t the most edgy or exciting thing to be shown on the runway. But check out Organic by John Patrick for his uber pretty, retro spin on pastels with wrap dresses, printed trousers, and practical trench coats.

With the fashion industries obsession with youth, Americana blue jeans were all over the Spring 2010 runways. Jeans will always be an absolute staple in most of our wardrobes for most of our entire lives, so why not switch to the more sustainable organic denim?
