Beauty Review: Naturally Beautiful

I absolutely love high fashion makeup–tiny jewels dangling off eyelashes and super-sculpted fuchsia lips are amazing.

But when I’m running out the door in the morning to head off to class, I like a more low maintenance look. By low maintenance, I literally mean five minutes or less.

I wanted to share five of my favorite products that make you look great in a flash. First off is Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer.  It’s a bit pricy at $42 on a college budget, but it’s worth every penny. It’s perfect for the summer because it has SPF 20 and protects my skin without having to slather on sunblock. All you need is a nickel-sized dollop of this tinted moisturizer; no brush needed, just smooth the cream over your face with clean fingertips. The tinted moisturizer is also very light–think standard liquid foundation mixed with moisturizer. So, if you have problematic skin that needs more coverage, I wouldn’t recommend using this tinted moisturizer.

Next I use Sephora Natural Eye Tutorial to give my eyes some definition. The bad news? You need brushes to apply the three shadows. The good news? It comes with a mini brush. More good news: it’s only three quick steps. Start by applying the base shadow from the lash line to the brow bone. Then blend the contour shade from the center of the crease to the outer edge. And finally, apply the highlighting shadow along the brow bone and apply a dot to the inside corner to open the eyes up. The tutorial also comes with a mini eyeliner and mascara, but I prefer to use Almay Intense I-Color Mascara to intensify my brown eyes.

Next, I use Tarte Cheek Stain in Natural Beauty for a subtle, rosy glow. I  just lightly twist the stick over the apples of my cheeks and blend. Adding a sheer berry hue to you cheeks is the fastest way to give yourself a naturally healthy glow.

The final touch my quick and natural look is lip balm. Lipstick needs to be put on slowly and carefully and lip gloss can get a bit too sticky when the summer breeze is jolting my hair in all different directions. So, I stick to lip balm like Burt’s Bees Replenishing Lip Balm. The balm has a sheer, pomegranate tint that enhances every women’s natural lip color.

And voilà, my makeup is done in less than five minutes!

Extra Extra: I have thick eyebrows and in order to keep them in place, I swipe Revlon Blow Styling Gel over each brow. If you have super thin, groomed brows, you can skip the brow gel.
