Watch your back, Rapunzel: According to WWD, Disney has enlisted celebrity stylist Ken Paves—who has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham, and Jessica Simpson—to create a customized pixie cut and color for Periwinkle, Tinker Bell’s BFF in their next animated feature.

Disney’s princesses have never needed professional help before. (Jasmine, I’m talking about you and your impossibly long, thick, and glossy locks.) I realize I’m critiquing a fantasy world, but what happened to the gloriously messy and tangled—yet adorable—hair of childhood? Children are supposed to fantasize about fighting pirates and having adventures, not the perfect blowout. When I was a kid, my hair was snarled and frizzy and the last thing I cared about was its imperfection. We have the rest of our lives to worry about brushing our hair. What’s next—a Drybar for Ariel? Oh wait, she could probably use that.
