ZOOM IN: LAURA MERCIER SMOOTH FINISH FLAWLESS FLUIDE
We get the story on the innovative, second-skin foundation straight from the complexion connoisseur herself.
If a perfect canvas is the key to a masterpiece, Laura Mercier’s new Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide foundation is the first step towards a true work of art. “When the skin’s surface is soft, smooth, and fresh, everything that goes on it looks and feels better. It looks naturally flawless,” says painter-turned-makeup artist Mercier. “Then, anything else you apply—lips, cheeks, and eyes, also looks the best they can.” Here, we get an inside look at the essential base that delivers a polished, museum-worthy mug. This Fashionisto is wearing a hunter green blazer layered over a black tank with shredded denim. He topped off the look with a cranberry-colored fedora, a bold, silver eagle pendent, stacks of black leather bracelets, and distressed brown oxfords. His look is casual but still fashionable and colorful by accessorizing basic wardrobe pieces with bold, unique accessories.
To pull off your own fab I-just-threw-this-on look try:
All this springy weather is making me feel, well, peachy keen. This Fashionista is sporting a super unique tee shirt that she cut up herself with a pop of peach peeking out underneath. Peachy and coral hues look fresh in surprising, small glimpses, but can be overwhelming if its the focal point of the ensemble. To replicate this Fashionista’s peek-a-boo peach bandeau, try this ruched tube piece in fluorescent orange or coral.
Looking to update your classic cherry red lips? A bold fuchsia mouth is a modern alternative. The hue adds a distinct youthfulness to your look. To recreate this look seen in at Spring 2010 Marc by Marc Jacobs(pictured,) try Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Fuchsia, $8.99. For less of a matte look, top with NARS Lip Gloss in Easy Lover, $24, or wear the gloss alone for a sheer hot pink.
Also offer yourself a quick fuchsia flash, just swipe Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip & Cheek Tint, $7, in I Pink I Can over the apples of your cheeks for an instant beauty refresher. I like to use this cheek tint as a pick-me-up whenever my skin looks a bit paler than usual, it always brings a healthy glow to my face.
This sunny shade lit up at Prada‘s (pictured) and Giambattisa Valli‘s Spring 2010 runways. This divinely summer shade was painted on the pouts in both shows, and you too can simply slick on the orange-y goodness of Tarte Natural Lip Stain, $24, in Joy. This lip pencil may look like those chubby crayons you drew stick figures with in grade school, but Crayola has nothing on these fool-proof pencils. The lip pencil is super easy to use and leaves a lasting apricot hue on your lips. Also check out Benefit Georgia Blush, $28, for a soft, feminine peaches and cream glow.
