Glow above and beyond with this free Sephora service.
With a round face and a generous hand, I’ve never been able to master a healthy, just-off-the-beach complexion. Instead of a dewy, fresh face, I usually end up with a muddled mix of the holy trinity of glow-getters—highlighter, bronzer, and blush—clownishly splotched over my cheeks. So, I headed straight to my local Sephora store for a complimentary Mini Makeover at the Beauty Studio. I enlisted the help of Claudiavel, a bubbly beauty expert and bronzing guru, to help me decipher my coveted look. Read on to see how to get your own chiseled radiance at home—or pop into any Sephora store and ask for a Blush + Bronze Mini Makeover. RENEE TRILIVAS
STEP ONE: HIGHLIGHT
First, Claudiavel illuminated the high points of my face—the cheekbones, down the center of my nose, under my brows, and into the cupid’s bow—by tapping on Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder Compact in Highlight, a golden nude highlighter with the tapered tip of the SEPHORA COLLECTION Pro Precision Powder Brush #59 for a lit-from-within radiance.
STEP TWO: SCULPT
Next, she added definition to my round face, dusting Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Light/Medium Matte Bronzer, a taupe, shimmer-free bronzer under my cheekbones, starting at the edge of the ear, moving toward the center of the face. Then, she swept the bronzer along the jawline with flat side of the same powder brush, diffusing the color down toward the neck.
STEP THREE: ENHANCE
Lastly, Claudiavel blended the highlight and contour shades together by adding a touch of color. With the flat side of the brush, she applied Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat, a shimmery poppy hue, to the outer apples of my cheeks, minimizing my full cheeks and bringing a lively warmth to the face. I loved the end result—a subtly sculpted contour that faked sky-high cheekbones with a pop of flattering color—so much so, that I bought the bronzer (and brush!) to recreate the natural glow at home.
